Awesome 86-year-old woman on her purse thief: 'the bitch don't even know me!’

On Sunday afternoon, while sitting in front of her Bronx apartment and minding her business, 86-year-old Bernice Starnes was approached by a woman she did not know. Starnes, being a fixture in the local community and a generally friendly person, struck up a casual conversation with the woman.

Moments into exchanging pleasantries, though, things took a sudden turn when the stranger grabbed Starnes’ purse and bolted away with $115 dollars, shocking the elderly woman who couldn’t run after her attacker. Not long after, the woman, who has been identified as 37-year-old Adrianne Terry, was seen on CCTV footage disposing of a purse resembling Starnes’. Soon, local authorities tracked Terry down and took her into custody.

It’s how Starnes reacted to all of this, though, that takes this story from the local news crime blotter and places it into the pantheon of greatness.

“She wanted to hurt me and the bitch don’t even know me,” Starnes told PIX 11 News without the slightest hint of sadness for the other woman. “I hope that the women in prison beat her ass every day for as long as she’s in there.”

Even though Terry maintains that she did not commit the crime, she’s been charged with both petty and grand larceny and is currently being held in jail. Starnes, stressed the fact that she and her late husband had earned that money, had nothing but justifiable contempt for Terry.

“I’m supposed to feel sorry for that bitch?” Starnes asked with feigned incredulity. “I hope she stays [in jail] for the rest of her freaking life!”

While Starnes wasn’t able to get her purse back after the robbery, she’s still in high spirits and says that she’s currently planning out a vacation cruise she would like to take to Africa.
