Conservative Nerds Desperately Try and Fail to Dunk on AOC While She's Making Soup
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hosted another Instagram Live story on Sunday while cooking dinner where she took questions from followers and chatted about policy. Normal people watched this and thought, “this is a charming and personable thing for a newly-elected politician to do,” but weird conservative nerds, as usual, had a far different reaction.
At one point, AOC was talking about how important it is for Democrats to start working to take back control of the Senate, House, and presidency now, not just in 2020.

“If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress, uh, rather, all three chambers of government—the presidency, the Senate and the House—in 2020,” Ocasio-Cortez said on the livestream. “We can’t start working in 2020.”
You will notice some of the words here are not completely precise—the different parts of the government are called branches, and the three branches typically refer to the legislative, executive, and judicial—but she immediately corrected herself. Fortunately, Ocasio-Cortez’s meaning was still completely clear, but if you noticed the flub, congratulations on your job as a pedantic Kinja commenter! You’re in good company, along with these fuckin’ guys:
Conservative dudes came out of the woodwork to insist that—ma’am, MA’AM!—Ocasio-Cortez betrayed some vast ignorance while daring to talk politics while also making soup.
The diaper boy also joined in:
The conservative media at large has been furiously trying to undermine the Queens Democrat since she won the primary in New York’s 14th district, mainly because of all of the things she unapologetically is: young, a working class person of color, a socialist.
To her credit, AOC brushed off the pissbabies who came for her, which included a member of the Ohio House of Representatives:
Anyway, Ocasio-Cortez also posted the recipe for the black bean soup she was making, so it’s probably only a matter of time before some conservative blogger films themselves using a pot of it for target practice or something.
Correction 5:15 P.M.: A previous version of this story referred to Rep. Niraj Antani as a member of Congress. He is not, he is a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. I deeply regret this error.
