Double Mastectomy Dance Party

Today there’s a flash mob for everything; political protests, art, proposals.. the list goes on. The latest flash mob on our radar is more inspiring than most.


Just before a double mastectomy surgery, OBGYN Deborah Cohan danced in the Mt.Zion Hospital operating room.

The song she chose was Beyonce’s “Get Me Bodied.” In six minutes Cohan demonstrates her dance moves and her resilience.

“My fantasy is for you to play the song and dance wherever you happen to be,” she wrote on her CaringBridge website.

The video has over four million YouTube views.

It resonated with viewers who left comments on Cohen’s website.

“Deborah, your dance video moved me beyond words. Thank you so much for sharing your positivity with the world. All the best for a speedy recovery.”
