The NRA Won't Let a School Shooting Stop It From Releasing Hateful Gun Propaganda

It’s been less than a month since a 19-year-old armed with a legally purchased AR-15 rifle was able to stroll into his former Florida high school and take the lives of 17 people. But that won’t stop the NRA from continuing its bonkers video series that portrays any person in favor of reasonable gun control policy as a hate-monger.

On Sunday, the NRA repurposed an old, highly controversial video it released in 2017 and posted it once again on social media to coincide with the Oscars. The video is part of a running series starring NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch, who’s been getting owned on the cable news circuit since the Parkland shooting—Loesch frames the culture war over guns as an us vs. them issue.

“They use their media to assassinate real news. They use their schools to teach children that their president is another Hitler. They use their movie stars and singers and comedy shows and award shows to repeat their narrative over and over again,” she says.

Loesch continues, as black and white footage of protesters smashing windows and burning a trash can plays:

And then they use their ex-president to endorse the resistance, all to make them march. Make them protest, make them scream racism and sexism and xenophobia and homophobia.
[…]
Until the only option left is for the police to do their jobs and stop the madness. And when that happens, they’ll use it as an excuse for their outrage.

Is your galaxy brain exploding yet? Get this: the media and the teachers and Hollywood are a great big anti-gun cabal, pushing this notion that racism and xenophobia are bad around the clock. What’s a liberty-loving, red-blooded American to do?

The video ends with the NRA’s forceful suggestion: “The only way we save our country and our freedom is to fight this violence of lies with the clenched fist of truth.”

See, the problem is the anti-gun people and their DAMN LIES perpetuating thought violence, rather than the people with guns perpetuating, you know, actual violence. The only thing for the NRA faithful to do is buy more guns and keep tweeting racial slurs at MSNBC hosts, even as more and more Americans come around to the idea that the problem is as simple as too many guns.

Correction: This post originally said the video was a new one. In fact, though the NRA reposted it to social media on Sunday, it was originally released in 2017. We regret the error.
