Trump Reportedly Grilled Acting FBI Director About Who He Voted for in Oval Office Meeting

Welcome to WHAT NOW, a morning round-up of the news/fresh horrors that await you today.

Not long after President Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey last spring, he reportedly called the new acting head of the agency to the Oval Office for some light pleasantries—and also to interrogate him about his politics.

As The Washington Post reported on Tuesday night, the getting-to-know-you meeting last May quickly took a turn, with several current and former officials confirming that Trump asked acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe who he voted for in the 2016 presidential election.

McCabe, who’s been with the agency for two decades, replied that he didn’t vote. The president went on to vent his anger that McCabe’s wife Jill received a donation of nearly $500,000 from a political action committee then run by Terry McAuliffe, a close ally of the Clintons, during her 2015 bid for the Virginia State Senate.

It’s hardly a stunning revelation given that Trump is a man who seems destined to be muttering about Hillary Clinton on his deathbed, and who previously took the extraordinary step of trying to extract an loyalty pledge from Comey shortly before he fired him.
