Can these cookies stop Islamophobia?
As a post-election wave of hate crimes and xenophobia grips our nation, cartoonist Marguerite Dabaie offers a cautionary tale about paranoia. There’s a moral to this story: we need to reclaim the universal language of delicious treats.
Marguerite Dabaie’s first major comic, The Hookah Girl and Other True Stories—an autobiography about Palestinian-Americans—was awarded two grants. She is currently working on A Voyage to Panjikant, a historical-fictional graphic novel about the 7th-century Silk Road. She’s based in Brooklyn.
