Flip Saunders, Minnesota Timberwolves coach, dies at 60

Flip Saunders, the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, has died at 60, the team announced on Sunday.

The cause was Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Saunders had announced in August that he had been diagnosed with the disease.

In September, he was hospitalized. On Friday, the Timberwolves said that he would be taking the entirety of the next NBA season off. Tragically, he died before he could return to coaching.

Saunders had been a coach since 1995, spending almost all of that time with the Timberwolves.
