Fox News Has a Ludicrous Issue With Time's March for Our Lives Cover

Latest

Several student survivors of the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School shootings, who have gone on to become leading activists in the movement for gun reform, have graced this week’s cover of Time magazine, just in time for tomorrow’s March For Our Lives. The powerful cover features Jaclyn Corin, Alex Wind, Emma González, Cameron Kasky, and David Hogg underneath the word “Enough,” highlighting the unprecedented gun control campaign they have cultivated in the weeks since the shooting.

Naturally, Fox News is demanding to know where, in this story about a swelling pro-gun control movement, the anti-gun control voices are.

In an article on Friday, Fox took particular issue with the omission of one student in particular, Kyle Kashuv, a Stoneman Douglas survivor and staunch anti-gun control advocate.

Politicians from Cory Booker to Marco Rubio to Nancy Pelosi to Orrin Hatch have met with Kashuv, who prides himself on focusing on legislation rather than marching. Kashuv’s work has focused on strengthening security in schools and launching an emotional and mental support app, but he has remained pro-gun and pro-NRA, criticized the march, and been openly hostile to some of the students featured on the cover. He also claims CNN canceled an interview with him after he retweeted someone deeming Brooke Baldwin a “Fake News Hypocrite.”

It is predictably baffling that Fox is railing on Time so hard, seeing as how the cover story is about the March For Our Lives and the revitalized gun control movement, something Kashuv clearly wants no part of. But what else is new?
