Hundreds of DC Protesters Arrested as They Keep Up the Fight Against Kavanaugh
As Senate Republicans all but proclaimed that Brett Kavanaugh will be confirmed to the Supreme Court, a huge group of activists spent Thursday afternoon swarming the Senate in a show of force to demonstrate that the fight over Kavanaugh is not over yet.
Waving signs and chanting deafening anti-Kavanaugh slogans, thousands of protesters occupied the Senate’s Hart office building, massing in both the main atrium and along the balcony of every floor.
According to ABC 7 news, around 300 people had been arrested as of 5 p.m.
It remains to be seen whether the protests will end up influencing the votes of any undecided senators, but the overall message of the rally was unmistakable: Whether or not Kavanaugh is confirmed by the Senate, there are people who are ready to fight him, and those who support him, throughout the confirmation process, and onto the midterm elections. Republicans beware.
