Oregon bakers probably should've baked lesbian couple a cake
Two bakers from Oregon are attempting to avoid paying pay court-ordered damages to a lesbian couple that they discriminated against almost three years ago. That sounds way more stressful than just baking a wedding cake, but OK.
The Guardian reports that Sweet Cakes by Melissa owners Melissa and Aaron Klein refused to provide service to Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer in January 2013, citing religious objections to their same-sex union.

A state labor commissioner ordered the Kleins—who recently made headlines for mailing “hate cakes” and copies of a short film about adults being homophobic babies to LGBTQ organizations—to pay $135,000 in damages to the Bowman-Cryers for emotional suffering and violating their civil rights under Oregon law.
But the Kim Davis aspirants are refusing to pay the $135,000 because why stop refusing things now? It should be noted that crowd-funding efforts have raised $500,000 on behalf of the Kleins.
“It’s difficult to understand the Kleins’ unwillingness to pay the debt when they have, very publicly, raised nearly a half million dollars,” labor bureau spokesman Charlie Burr told The Oregonian. “They are entitled to a full and fair review of the case, but do not have the right to disregard a legally binding order.”
They probably shoulda baked that cake.
In barely related news, here are some amazing photos of Fran Drescher eating cupcakes at a gay wedding she officiated that I stumbled upon while searching for “gay wedding cakes” on Getty Images.
