This video perfectly captures how close we are to Back to the Future Part II

In the 1989 movie Back to the Future Part II, Marty McFly time-traveled to October 21, 2015—which is today. Yes. We’re living the future!

In honor of “Back to the Future day,” people have been writing and tweeting about how reality compares to what the movie thought today would look like: a world of flying cars, hoverboards, video phone glasses, autonomous dog-walking leashes and voice recognition-operated appliances. Some of those technologies have indeed crossed over from the world of science fiction into reality, but they don’t feel as suave as the filmmakers imagined them. This Vine perfectly captures how futuristic today actually feels:

Our futuristic technology sometimes leaves us feeling overwhelmed, surrounded, perplexed, overly-connected, and foolish. Sometimes things work great. Other times they fail miserably. We’re always caught in the middle.
