Sebastian Gorka, One of Trump's Top Nazi-Linked Aides, Jumps Ship
Sebastian Gorka, the baritone, Nazi-adjacent counter-terrorism advisor to President Donald Trump, is out at the White House, conservative website The Federalist reported on Friday night.
In an apparent resignation letter obtained by the Federalist, Gorka expressed frustrations with “forces that do not support the MAGA promise,” which, he claimed “are – for now – ascendant within the White House.”
“As a result, the best and most effective way I can support you, Mr. President, is from outside the People’s House,” Gorka’s letter stated.
However, news of Gorka’s departure prompted immediate pushback from administration sources, who told Voice of America White House Bureau Chief Steve Herman that while he was indeed no longer working in the White House, he “did not resign.” Similarly conflicting stories accompanied Gorka compatriot Steve Bannon’s White House departure earlier this month.
When asked about the White House’s insistence that he had been pushed out, Gorka reportedly told One America News Network’s Trey Yingst: “I can confirm I resigned.”
Gorka, one of the President Trump’s most controversial advisors who seemed to relish his role as the administration’s TV attack dog, had long been the subject of rumors regarding both his actual position in the White House, and whether he would remain following Bannon’s exit. Speaking with the Washington Examiner in April, one White House source admitted that other than appearing on TV, Gorka’s only apparent responsibilities were “giving White House tours and peeling out in his Mustang.”
One administration official told The Federalist: “This was more or less going to be a done deal when Bannon submitted his resignation. Not because he didn’t have a protector, but because there is no point in having your life ruined every day if you’re not going to get much accomplished.”
Gorka has yet to indicate what he plans to do next, but he did change his Twitter avatar.
Cool.
