Trump Refuses to Take a Vacation From Awful Tweets

Welcome to WHAT NOW, a morning round-up of the news/fresh horrors that await you today.

Donald Trump may be on a 17-day vacation at his New Jersey golf club—sorry, it’s “not a vacation,” according to the man the New York Times declared to be the lying-est president in modern history this morning—but that doesn’t mean he’s actually sparing us from the headache of having to deal with him.

If you thought you might get literally one day without seeing Trump fire off some nonsense tweets at a ridiculously early hour…well, what were you thinking?

Sigh.

Wrong.

See previous link.

It’s true, nothing brings people closer together like deregulation!

And nothing will ever free us from this hell.

I’m not even going to give you the context for that one because why bother really?

WHAT ELSE?

  • Minnesota governor Mark Dayton condemned the bombing of a mosque and Islamic center in the city of Bloomington as an act of terrorism.
  • Daniel Dae Kim continued his streak of oblique but extremely pointed comments about his controversial exit from Hawaii Five-0, which kicked off a firestorm over rumors that he left after learning he wouldn’t be paid the same as his white co-stars. Speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour on Sunday, Kim said, “[‘Hawaii Five-0’] was a really important part of my life for seven years…that said, it’s possible to be grateful for the opportunity and have respect for your colleagues and still maintain a steadfast sense of your self-worth.”
  • The New York Times uncovered a fun little subplot in the ongoing tale of the hellish collapse of New York City’s subway system: the MTA regularly just cancels dozens of trains every single day, leaving the system even more thinly stretched. Great plan! Another good, probably doomed plan: getting rich people to pay for the subways to be better.
  • I don’t care what was on last night’s Game of Thrones, stop trying to make me care.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Hopefully none of these television shows I just heard NBC wants to bring back. Can we extremely not please? Can nothing die?
