Alec Baldwin As Bill O’Reilly on SNL Is Eerily Close to Reality
Alec Baldwin returned to Saturday Night Live this weekend to play his signature role (twice) as President Donald Trump. But he also added a new character this week, skewering the host of Fox News show The Factor, Bill O’Reilly.
Baldwin’s impersonation of O’Reilly, whose show is bleeding advertisers after reports emerged that he and his network have paid out $13 million to five women to quash sexual harassment allegations, is so accurate that the line between satire and factuality is starting to blur.
Baldwin’s skit is funny—the only advertisers he can get are dog cocaine and a horse aphrodisiac, and no women want to be within five blocks of the man—but it reflects the sad state affairs in our nation, where rich, right-wing, white men are dominating the conversation. By now Baldwin must be wondering, as we all are, when will it ever end?
