Chris Christie Is Getting a New Job

NJ.com is reporting that former New Jersey governor Chris Christie, who recently left office as the least popular governor in the state’s history, has been hired by ABC News as an “occasional contributor.”

According to NJ.com’s source, Christie was hired “because he is close to the president and the players inside the White House,” and because the network “value[s] his perspective on Trump voters,” particularly those who are big wet baby boys. Christie, it should be noted, governed a state that Trump lost by double digits.

Christie, who ran his own failed bid for president in 2016, was a close advisor to the president during his campaign, was considered for the vice presidential nomination before Trump selected Mike Pence, and served as the head of Trump’s transition team before being replaced by Pence three days after the election. According to a book about Steve Bannon released last year, part of the reason Trump fell out with Christie was because Christie had arranged for former President Barack Obama to call his phone when Trump won. “You know my number, just give it to the President,” Trump reportedly screamed at Christie in response. “I don’t want your fucking phone.”

Christie, whose second term was consumed by the George Washington Bridge Lane closure scandal and completely shirking his duties as governor to run for president, last served as the chair of the Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission. That commission released recommendations for combatting the crisis on November 1 and disbanded in December.

NJ.com says that Christie’s hiring will be announced tomorrow during Good Morning America, and he’ll return to provide commentary after the State of the Union address. Lucky us.
