The Scaramucci Post: 'How Many Jews Were Killed in the Holocaust?'

Look, I know my colleague Libby Watson (rightly) pointed out that none of us are actually obligated in any way to write about professional Goodfellas cosplayer Anthony Scaramucci. But, when a media outlet (read: Twitter feed) helmed by the former White House communications director starts…er, “ruminating” on the Holocaust, I can’t resist.

On Monday morning, Anthony’s Scaramucci Post fired off a series of tweets, which quickly escalated from asking whether it’s right or wrong to dress children up as Anne Frank for Halloween (answer: wrong!), to essentially musing about whether the Holocaust really happened in the first place.

First, the good news: The majority of Scaramucci Post readers have correctly affirmed that some six million Jews were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust. Unfortunately, an alarmingly high number of Scaramucci posters have divorced themselves from reality by eschewing this easily Googleable fact.

As for the Scaramucci Post? Hey, it’s just askin’ questions.

Shortly after the tweets were sent, CNN’s Jake Tapper reported that Scaramucci himself was “furious” over the messages, and would likely fire the person responsible—staffer Lance Laifer.

…Thoughts?

Update, 3:45 PM—On Tuesday afternoon, Scaramucci himself released a longer apology for his outlets tweets.

Update, 4:21 PM—After issuing his apology statement, Scaramucci went on to defend the staffer who posted the offending tweets, pledge $25,000 to the Simon Wiesenthal center, and make a bizarre joke (?) about spelling the organization’s name correctly.
