7 times Miley Cyrus, weed enthusiast, mentioned weed at the VMAs

Weed isn’t cool. You know what’s cool? Talking about weed. Miley Cyrus hosted Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, a ceremony seemingly centered around a single premise: Miley Cyrus enjoys marijuana. A lot. She enjoys it a lot, you guys. Also, here are some awards, I guess.

Here are seven hazy pot-themed gags from last night’s festivities, brought to you by the artist, also known as America’s foremost proponent of pot-leaf pasties, who has smoked onstage at both the MTV Europe Music Awards and Art Basel.

1. As a riff on Ellen’s Oscars selfie, Miley snaps an Instagram shot featuring herself alongside the likes of Kim Kardashian, Bollywood dancers, Rita Ora, and Frankenstein. She instructs the group to say “marijuana!” instead of “cheese!”

2. Miley invites producer Mike WiLL Made-It and rapper Tyga over for a sleepover in a pretaped skit. After dad Billy Ray stops by to wish them a good night, the pals light up in Miley’s bedroom.

3. Miley returns to the stage eating a mysterious pastry—wink, wink—that resembles a homemade Pop-Tart. “If anyone wants to know where I got this delicious treat, Mike Will Made It,” she explains.

4. In another sketch, Miley eats a weed brownie with Snoop backstage, then hallucinates that he’s her pet pig, Pig Pig.

5. After Kanye’s intense Video Vanguard acceptance speech, in which he admits to “[smoking] something” before the show, Miley demands, “Pass that shit!” This, you see, is an edgy thing to do.

6. To close out the VMAs, Miley—with a platoon of gorgeous drag queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race—performed “Dooo It,” from her available-for-free-online-as-of-right-now-surprise! album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz. The lyrics leave little to the imagination:

Yeah, I smoke pot
Yeah, I love peace
But I don’t give a fuck
I ain’t no hippie

Miley enters the stage through an enormous video of a mouth (her own?) blowing smoke. Later, with the help of the Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne, she blows more smoke out of her crotch.

Blowing smoke is the VMAs’ specialty, in more ways than one.

7. After the show, Miley—who, may we remind you, smokes pot—reportedly offered journalists a lit joint in the press room. “It was quickly passed back,” says the Daily News.
