Kim Kardashian does Brazil

Wearing a $30 dress, Kim Kardashian this week launched a new line of clothing specially designed for Brazilian retail company C&A. But to fans, her trip to South America’s largest nation meant much more than just discount fashion.

After less than 24 hours in the country, Kim K’s name shot to the top of Google Trends today, when she appeared on a pre-recorded morning TV talk show with Ana Maria Braga.

On Instagram, where she has over 34 million followers, Karadshian’s pic captioned “Brazil, here we come!!!!!!” has already garnered more than 714,000 likes since Sunday, Mother’s Day.

Kardashian also stole the headlines of Brazil’s leading fashion blogs. Her collection, which she defines as “simple and sexy,” features skirts, jeans, sandals and crop tops priced from $9- $65. The clothing line, named “Kim Kardashian West para C&A”, is currently offered online, but will be in stores on May 21 — just on time for Brazil’s Valentines Day on June 12.

In Monday’s launch event at a shopping mall in São Paulo, hundreds of fans pressed together to try to see the star up close and — if really lucky— snap a selfie with her.

The event was limited to 400 fans who registered online. Still, only 30 people were allowed to take selfies with Kardashian. Other fans were left to scream her name, calling her a queen, a diva and a beauty.

Kardashian’s quick Brazil trip ended with more pictures and messages saying goodbye and thank you.
