'It's the Calm Before the Storm,' Says a Terrifyingly Vague President Surrounded by Military Leaders

There’s a storm coming, maybe, at least the Commander in Chief seems to think so. After meeting with a dozen or so military leaders and their spouses, President Trump blurted out a terrifyingly vague and totally spontaneous…uh…premonition on Thursday.

“You guys know what this represents?” He told reporters during the photo op. “Maybe it’s the calm before the storm.” Ha ha!

When reporters attempted to press Trump on what he meant by insinuating a storm was coming, his response was somehow more ominous. “You’ll find out,” he added. According to Bloomberg’s Justin Sink, Trump dismissed the White House press pool, before summoning them again to issue his portentous proclamation.

Never fear, Trump seemed to say after announcing an allegedly imminent cloud of doom. “We have the world’s great military people in this room,” he said. “I will tell you that.” Somehow this reassurance has yet to quell my already frayed nerves.

All in all, however, Trump’s apparently off-the-cuff remark falls in line with his bellicose approach to foreign policy. It’s also an entirely predictable thing for a former reality TV star to say.
