The natural hair version of the '100 Years of Beauty' video is awesome

On the heels of last month’s massive hit video “100 Years of Beauty in 1 Minute” (it has over 18 million views and counting), Cut.com has released what may already be the reigning champion of beauty videos for 2015: “100 Years of Beauty: Marshay.”

The concept is the same: A model is given professional hair and makeup to correspond to different eras in American culture, and it’s time-lapsed to fit inside 60 seconds.

What makes this video so dynamic is the seldom-seen evolution of natural hair looks. This is a mini-history of black hair in America. Watching the styles change from decade to decade — from the 1910s to the 2010s — on the model, Marshay, is captivating and awe-inspiring.

I really just want to know exactly how long it took create each look. The ’90s box-braids, specifically!

Marshay is serving us so much Janet Jackson in Poetic Justice realness, and the combination of makeup looks with natural hair styles really makes this video worth sharing. Bravo!
