Trump Is Enraged at John Kelly Now

Donald Trump’s long-promised “big beautiful wall” is set to do more than just separate the United States from Mexico. It now seems to be coming between Trump and his fellow anti-immigrant racist, Chief of Staff John Kelly.

On Wednesday evening, Kelly told Fox News’ Bret Baier that the president has “changed his attitude toward the DACA issue and even the wall” since the 2016 campaign. Kelly’s statement was in response to reports that during a recent meeting with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, he’d described some of Trump’s early immigration stances as “uninformed”—particularly when it came to building a full wall along every inch of the U.S./Mexico border.

“This has been an evolutionary process that this president has gone through,” Kelly told Baier.

People change, they contain multitudes, blah blah blah. Hardly groundbreaking stuff. But for Trump, these were evidently fighting words. According to the New York Times, the president was reportedly “livid” at Kelly’s characterization. On Thursday, he voiced his displeasure—where else?—on Twitter.

What is the wall? The wall! When has it changed? Never!

While the president is correct to point out that he had previously insisted parts of his barrier be transparent (so drugs don’t fall on people’s heads), top aide Kellyanne Conway has said he’d only recently “discovered” that there wouldn’t be a physical wall along the entire two thousand mile border after all.

We’ll have to wait and see if Trump’s anger at Kelly will end in the latter’s departure from the White House. Perhaps there’s still time for this friendship based on a mutual dislike of immigrants to be mended if these two men stop worrying about the wall on the border, and start worrying about the wall….in their heart.
