British Invasion: Style at the star-studded 'London in Los Angeles' fashion show

Last night, Burberry — Britian’s most British-y British heritage brand — trekked across the pond to fete the opening of its new Los Angeles-based store at its “London in Los Angeles” event.

Inviting, like, 500 of their closest fashion friends to a lavish runway repeat presentation of their Fall 2015 collection, the label pulled out all the stops, all the Brits (Sir Elton John, Anna Wintour, the Beckhams were seated front row), and all the busby hats.

The Queen was unable to attend, apparently, so she sent her proxy, Naomi Campbell, instead. In fact, everything kind of revolved around the supermodel last night, she closing the fashion show with her signature walk, which is really just a national treasure.

Campbell repped her mother country with a gaggle of her beautifully-outfitted countrywomen, like Suki Waterhouse, Kate Beckinsale, and Cara Delevingne. Of course, no one was interested in the black military-inspired tunic Delevingne wore last night, considering she brought her rumored girlfriend, St. Vincent, to the event as her date. Naturally every British newspaper had a field day reporting on that absurdly photogenic “are they?/aren’t they?” couple.

The Americans were not to be outdone on their own turf, with Mad Men star January Jones, and starlets Jamie King, and Tessa Thompson bringing lots of texture, feathers, and weather-inappropriate fur into the mix.

Love Mila Kunis, but the actress looked like a legit “mom out on the town” with this really bland ensemble of pants with a silk top.

But everyone’s favorite L.A. teenager, Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) brightened the mood with a strapless number she punked up with ankle booties.

Rose Byrne carried on with the visible underwear trend, which she oddly made seem stately. Also, Robin Wright Penn‘s daughter, Dylan was there, totally favoring her mother and fortunately looking nothing like her father, Sean Penn.

Let’s take a minute to recognize the baddest queen in the building, Anjelica Huston. A personal hero, she is real-deal Hollywood royalty, who, in this duster and pair of cigarette pants, reminds us of how damn regal being a sexagenarian is.

Rakish British and non-British gentlemen came out in droves, too: James Corden, Aaron Paul, Jamie Bell, and Mr. Kate Moss, a.k.a. James Hince, looking tailored and well-shaven.

John Boyega, the black storm trooper in the new Star Wars movie (who deserves his own emoji) was in attendance, along with that hot guy from New Girl (Julian Morris) whose eyes render you paralyzed and stupid.

As for the show itself, Burberry had Benjamin Clementine put on a dramatic live performance after Guardsmen and supermodels like Jourdan Dunn stormed the runway to open the presentation.

We have to (busbie) hat tip Burberry for closing the extravaganza with Dunn and Campbell, who are featured prominently in their Spring 2015 campaign.
