CIA live-tweets Osama bin Laden raid, five years later
Everyone celebrates a fifth anniversary of a milestone differently. For the CIA on the fifth anniversary of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, that means live-tweeting the raid in “real-time.”
Osama bin Laden was killed in a Navy SEAL raid on his complex in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Americans were not told about the top-secret raid until hours later, so obviously the CIA was not tweeting about the event at the time.

The CIA’s entire presence on Twitter account has always been a bit unusual, with Sunday’s live-tweeting being no exception. Twitter users were a bit unsure how to address the tweets.
