Harriet Tubman will replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill
According to Politico, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew is set to announce today that Harriet Tubman will replace President Andrew Jackson on the front of the $20 bill.
Lew will also reportedly announce that while Alexander Hamilton will remain on the front of the $10, the faces of activists who fought for women’s suffrage will appear on the back. The $5 bill will also include civil rights leaders, reports Politico. Lew said in a statement that we’ll see the concepts for all three bills in 2020.

A Treasury Department confirmed to Fusion that Tubman will be featured on the new $20 note. Later, the Department noted on its website that Jackson will remain on the back of the bill.
In June of last year, the Treasury Department said that we can expect the $10 bill to look different but didn’t reveal details. At the time, however, the department said that Hamilton would be removed from the front of the $10—a decision that has apparently changed. “It’s time for a woman to be back on our paper currency,” Lew told CBS News at the time, adding, “it is a signal to the world of what we think and representing all of our people in our history is part of who we are.”
This is a developing story.
