Kerry Washington didn't boycott the Oscars: Here's why

The 88th annual Academy Awards red carpet was oddly silent on the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, but at least a couple of attendees took time to weigh in on the industry’s glaring issues with representation and diversity. (Mark Ruffalo, for instance.)

Kerry Washington voiced her support for those boycotting the ceremony over its overwhelmingly white nominees, including Jada Pinkett Smith and Spike Lee. But the Scandal star told Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts that “a lot of voices are needed at the table” and that “I felt like my voice… is best used at the table.”
