In a statement released Tuesday morning, the Office of the First Lady chided the “opposition media” for worrying so much about the fact that Be Best’s cornerstone document, a guide for parents to educate their kids about the internet’s perils, appears to have been ripped off almost word-for-word from a years-old Federal Trade Commission document on the same topic. The unattributed statement also said everyone criticizing her is just being mean (emphasis mine):
Despite providing countless outlets with ample background, information, and on-the-record comments from the FTC, some media have chosen to take a day meant to promote kindness and positive efforts on behalf of children, to instead lob baseless accusations towards the First Lady and her new initiatives.

Our office will continue to focus on helping children and I encourage members of the media to attempt to Be Best in their own professions, and focus on some of the children and programs Mrs. Trump highlighted in her remarks yesterday.
First of all, allow me to say: fuck off, I am already Be Best, thank you very much. As one million pundits pointed out yesterday, it’s hilariously craven for Trump to champion this program while married to a cyber-bully-in-chief, even without a logo that appears to have been designed by a child whose brain has not yet bloomed from the wonder of social media use. I hope this never ends, and certainly not before we are all Be Best.
