Searches for 'leprechaun porn' spike more than 8,000% on St. Patrick's Day

Pornhub wants you to know that it isn’t just the highest-trafficked pornography site on the internet, it’s also a place where people come to learn about the human condition.

Much in the same way that the oceans’ tides are connected to the moon, so too are people’s porn consumption habits connected to current events. Octoberfest causes people to search for beer-related smut, Carnival inspires people to watch porn with exotic costumes, and the Superbowl…well it makes people stop watching porn. Temporarily.

It should come as no surprise, then, that on this blessed day upon which we celebrate St. Patrick, that our taste in adult films turn a little green and gold. Around this time every year, searches for “leprechaun,” spike by a whopping 8142% percent along with other terms including the words “Irish” and “luck.”

“Believe it or not, some people do search ‘Leprechaun’ throughout the year, but it goes up 8142%, and ‘st patricks day’ goes up 6177%,” Pornhub Insights explaines matter of factly. “More specific searches that contain Irish go up significantly such as “Irish creampie” at 5129%, “Irish anal” at 1714% and “Irish redhead” at 763%.”

Perhaps most interesting, though not all that surprising amongst Pornhub’s findings are the things that people are spelling incorrectly. Whether it’s because people are drunk or typing with one hand is unclear but on St. Patrick’s Day “lesbian,” one of the most widely-searched porn terms on the internet was misspelled 19% times more than usual.
