Sochi: USA Adds Another Medal, Dominates Women's Hockey

Sochi is nine hours ahead of the eastern United States—12 hours ahead for the people out west—making it difficult for the average Olympic viewer to catch a lot of the events live. That’s where we come in.

Everyday we’ll be posting daily updates on what happened while you were sleeping, what’s coming up later in the day, and what’s on the docket tomorrow, as well as any relevant GIFs, tweets and interesting articles.

What You Missed:

Alpine Skiing – Women’s Super Combined Slalom: American Julie Mancuso achieved the top time in the downhill portion on her way to adding another bronze to USA’s medal count. Slightly ahead of her were Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany and Austrian Nicole Hosp for gold and silver, respectively.

Women’s Ice Hockey: Many expect this USA squad to reach the finals with relative ease. If you watched today’s game, you can certainly see why. The Americans dominated Switzerland, the fifth ranked team in the world, 9-0. This chyron explains things pretty well.

Amanda Kessel (younger sister of NHLer Phil Kessel), Kendall Coyne and Monique Lamoureux all contributed two goals to the rout. Next up, the Americans will face rival Canada on Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. EST.
