Whoops! Amazon appears to leak iPhone 7 details ahead of Apple's announcement

Apple’s famously hush-hush product launches—which the company guards with the extreme paranoia and secrecy of nuclear test codes—took a big hit today, when Amazon appeared to leak details of the iPhone 7 an hour ahead of Apple’s official announcement.

Around 9:00 a.m. Pacific time, an hour before Apple was scheduled to debut a new iPhone, Twitter users noticed that Amazon had a page up called “iPhone 7 Cases, Accessories & Bluetooth Headphones.” It looked like this:

The photos on the leaked landing page, which was first reported by Gizmodo, appeared to confirm rumored details about the iPhone 7, including dual rear-facing cameras and the removal of the headphone jack.

Amazon replaced the original page with a photo of a dog:

But the leaked iPhone 7 page was still accessible minutes later, at a different URL, even as Apple started its event.

We have requested comment from Apple and Amazon, and will update if we hear back.

Update: Apple also appears to have accidentally leaked the iPhone 7 news from its corporate Twitter account. Wild!
