'Back To The Future II' predicted that in 2015, the U.S.'s female president would be fed up with reporters' repetitive questions
In Back To The Future Part II, Marty McFly finds himself journeying to October 21, 2015 in order to ensure the survival of his yet-to-be-born children.
As time travelers are wont to do, McFly acquaints himself with his new time, date, and place by grabbing a newspaper to see what’s going on in the world.
- Bernie Sanders and Some Democrats Get Ready to Lick Elon’s Boots and Practice the Politics of the Past
- NBC Seems to Suggest a Children's Video Game is to Blame for UnitedHealthcare CEO's Killing
- Nancy Mace Is an Irredeemable Garbage Person Who Loves Bullying Vulnerable People and Yet the Media Still Believes Her
Naturally, this drives the plot of the movie along, but the newspaper itself is chock full of interesting predictions for what’s supposed to be going on in the U.S. today. Most notable? We’re supposed to have a female President by now and she’s supposed to be tired of reporters asking her the same questions.
The good folks over at USA Today, who agreed to have their paper spoofed back in 1989, have created a high-resolution version of that same paper complete with new headlines that were below the fold in the movie itself. Conspicuously missing? Joe Biden’s announcement that he has no intentions to run for this mystery female President’s office once she’s out in 2016.
Certain stories, like would-be Queen Diana’s visit to Washington, have been edited out to reflect actual events that occurred after Back To The Future II was released, and others beg questions that really do need answering. Will the hoverboards of 2016 really be better than this year’s? Only time will tell.
