Fort Worth elected official compares Planned Parenthood to Hitler and KKK

An elected official in Forth Worth, Texas isn’t giving money to the local United Way charity this year because of what he says are the group’s ties to Planned Parenthood—and he has a pretty interesting explanation for his decision.

“Supporters of Planned Parenthood will say it too does enormous good in the community as well. I will remind all of them that Hitler made the trains run on time,” Tarrant County Tax Assessor Collector Ron Wright told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “The good that’s being done doesn’t compensate for the evil that’s being done by Planned Parenthood.”

In past years, his office held events to support the local branch of the United Way, the largest charity group in the country. The charity doesn’t actively fund Planned Parenthood, but will pass on donations to the health services organization if donors specifically ask to. Those earmarked donations make up less than one tenth of 1% that the local United Way gave to other groups last year, its CEO told the newspaper.

Wright even had a response to that. “They say it’s such a small amount of money compared to their total,” he said. “But would they trivialize it if the money were going to the Ku Klux Klan? In my opinion, that’s the moral equivalent.”

Another local official, County Commissioner Andy Nguyen, is also not donating to the United Way over the Planned Parenthood connection.
