These ads for the New Mexico State Fair are absolutely horrifying
The New Mexico State Fair concluded its ten-day run last weekend. There were no reports of demonic possession or eldritch sorcery, but if you watched the annual event’s ad campaign, you might think that’s what the fair is all about.
These commercials are 100% nightmare fuel, with anthropomorphized, bilingual, creepy-voiced pickles, cotton candy, and a saddle, talking directly to the camera with some sort of strange message from the devil and/or to convince you to come to the State Fair.
In a story by local TV station KRQE on the campaign, the fair’s general manager Dan Mourning said the creepy ads were effective.
“You know there’s a different trend going on out there, they said ‘let’s try something a little bit different,’ well this is as different as it gets,” Mourning told KRQE.
By that logic, next year the ads will feature a piece of cotton candy covered in eyes and mouths, each one screaming in a different language. Bring the wife and kids!
