This couple got married at a Confederate flag rally

Over the weekend, a Georgia couple got married in Stone Mountain Park surrounded by friends and fellow Confederate flag supporters.

Autumn Brunson Crosswhite and Timothy Crosswhite decided to wed at Confederate flag rally a few days prior to the event, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“We’re friends with a lot of people that do the rallies. We decided that we want everybody to be a part of our day, so what better way [than the rally]?” explained Autumn, adding, “To me, [the Confederate flag] represents the people who they fought to try and get freedom for everyone… I don’t feel any hate with it at all.” Timothy said that he supports the flag “because it’s part of my tradition and my heritage.”

A photo on Timothy’s Facebook page shows the couple standing in front of a banner marking the event, emblazoned with the phrase: “Two rebel hearts become one.” Autumn is shown in a white wedding dress, holding a bouquet of flowers and flags: One American, one Confederate.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the rally was attended by hundreds of flag supporters, and describes the scene as somewhat festive…

Some supporters danced to the tune of “Dixie” and others cheered as they stood atop pickup trucks. Some openly held guns.

The rally was held days after four Confederate flags were found by the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site in Atlanta.

Stone Mountain Park is the logical site for a Confederate-friendly wedding. The park boasts about its Confederate Memorial Carving, “the largest high relief sculpture in the world,” and features the stony visages of Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson. The “masterpiece” was completed in 1972. The park is also home to the Confederate Hall Historical & Environmental Education Center, which teaches visitors about Georgia’s confederate history and the memorial carving.

The park also offers a wedding venue at Antebellum Plantation if you want to get married by your confederate heroes, but can’t find a rally to fit your needs.
