TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY, HOW ARE YOU CELEBRATING?
THIS IS A FUN WAY TO TYPE, HUH? IT’S INVIGORATING AND NOT EXHAUSTING AT ALL.
Okay, I’m going to stop now. It’s October 22nd, which mean’s it’s also INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY.
Caps Lock Day happens twice a year, on October 22 and June 28. October 22 is the original date, established in 2000 by web developer Derek Arnold as a way of making fun of excessive Caps Lock use. June 28 was added to honor the late Billy Mays after his death, according to NBC News. Mays, pitch man and noted yeller, passed away on June 28, 2009.
This year the “official” presence is sparse. A twitter account associated with the holiday hasn’t tweeted since May, and the “SELF PROCLAIMED OFFICIAL HOME PAGE OF CAPS LOCK DAY” (which is worth taking a look at for its design alone) hasn’t updated this year.
Even so, as evidenced by Twitter, people are already getting into the spirit of the day, mostly by tweeting its name:
International Caps Lock Day should be celebrated responsibly, otherwise everyone will hate you.
