Every celebrity who has spoken out about the Alton Sterling shooting
Last night, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, two police officers pinned a 37-year-old black man named Alton Sterling to the ground flat on his back. He was there, immobile and restrained, when one officer shot him. According to the autopsy report, Sterling died of multiple gunshot wounds.
The Justice Department has announced that it will investigate the case. Sterling’s death is the latest in a long line of recent police shootings that have sparked outrage over the increasingly undeniable racial disparities in the United States justice system—and it’s certainly true that police officers are more likely to kill black people while doing their jobs.
