How Racism Won the 2018 Midterms
The 2018 midterms saw incredible highs and debilitating lows, and there are many things to learn from them. But one of the most telling things about the election was the racist campaigns run by the Republican Party across the country.
It comes as no surprise that American voters are still largely influenced by many of the same tactics and rhetoric employed in the founding days of our nation— namely, racist attacks that demonize the opposition and motivate people through fear and insecurity—but that doesn’t make it any less troubling, especially since, in so many cases this year, the racism worked.
