Is this cat photo the oldest cat photo ever?

Latest

In the beginning, there were cats. Then, some Ancient Egyptians were all like, “Cute,” and domesticated them as pets. Thousands of years later, humankind devised a complex system of interconnected networks in order to share cat photos and pornography with one another (i.e., the Internet), but how did we get from point A to point B?

Harvard University’s Houghton Library might have found the answer. A new post on the library’s official Tumblr account contains what could be “the earliest photo of a cat” ever taken.

The daguerreotype was taken sometime between 1840 to 1860. The cat in the image is seen drinking out of a bowl while carefully balanced on top of two stools, which was the style at the time. The Houghton Library Tumblr also suggests that we call the daguerreotype a “catuerreotype.”

Guess this means that HARVARD SUCKS AT PORTMANTEAUS PASS IT ON.

Bad at filling out bios seeks same.
