Stunning scenes from anti-Donald Trump protests from around the country

While numerous protests around Donald Trump‘s inauguration in Washington, DC got most of the national limelight–and where more than 200 protesters were arrested in clashes with police–protesters took to the streets on Friday around the country and around the world.

In Washington, the vast majority of protesters were peaceful. But a bloc of anti-fascism protesters, clad in black, smashed in the windows of a Bank of America and a Starbucks before torching a limo–all symbols of the excesses of capitalism.

Two-hundred-seventeen people were arrested as the protests turned violent and six police officers sustained non-life threatening injuries, according to CNN.

Officers responded by deploying flash grenades and clouds of pepper spray on protesters.

During an overnight protest at the University of Washington at Seattle, where notorious internet bad man Milo Yiannopoulos was slated to speak, a man was shot in the stomach.

The 32-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Seattle police said. Students were alerted that the suspected shooter turned himself into police, claiming he fired in self-defense.

In Dallas, five were arrested after cutting off traffic through the city.

Protesters in Chicago gathered across the street from Trump Tower. Ten men and six women were arrested on charges ranging from disorderly and reckless conduct to aggravated battery, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Beginning early on Friday morning, protesters wearing purple gathered to build a stunning human chain across the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Organizers said the protest was meant as a show of solidarity, rather than an anti-Trump demonstration.
