The DNC doesn't want Kanye West giving President Obama any political advice: Report

Next week, Kanye West, husband to Kim and father of North, will be performing at a Democratic National Committee campaign fundraiser being held in downtown San Francisco. For anywhere from $250 to $10,000 per ticket, Democratic supporters will be able to hear West demo songs from his upcoming album SWISH, and potentially get a chance to rub elbows with one President Barack Obama.

West’s performance is sure to be an interesting one, but according to Page Six, the rapper’s appearance at the event is contingent upon one thing: he’s not allowed to talk politics with the president.

At this point, we’re all more than familiar with West’s penchant for using his platform as a performer-cum-fashion designer to make his voice heard.

In the same way that Kanye wanted us to know that Beyoncé had the best music video in 2009, Kanye wanted us to know that he plans on running for President in 2020.

“I don’t know what I’m finna lose after this. It don’t matter, though, because it ain’t about me—it’s about new ideas, bro,” Kanye said during an acceptance speech at this year’s MTV Music Video Awards. “People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

Make what you will of West’s declaration of his intentions, but apparently the DNC isn’t at all interested in having the 38-year-old do much else other than perform.

“Kanye will be an exciting draw, especially compared to the Republicans booking Wayne Newton or Clint Eastwood,” political analyst and DNC member Robert Zimmerman told Page Six. “We all know how well that turned out.”

Oh yes, Mr. Zimmerman. Yes, we do.
