The Guardian’s Royal Wedding Presentation of Amal Clooney Was Perfect

Finally, someone has gotten it right on international human rights lawyer Amal Clooney.

In presenting the star lineup of celebrities attending Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle—whose attendees included Sir Elton John, Oprah, Idris Elba, the Beckhams, and others—The Guardian presented Amal as the “international human rights lawyer” rather than “George Clooney’s wife,” which is usually what newspapers annoyingly do.

Remember last year, when Amal Clooney delivered an impassioned speech urging the United Nations to do something about genocide by the Islamic State, and all the major global media focused instead on her “baby bump”? No more, says The Guardian.

They even tweeted it out that way:

Nevertheless, some—like The Sun, for example—still refused to “get it.” “AMAL YOU NEED TO KNOW,” quipped that newspaper’s royal wedding day coverage. “Who is Amal Clooney? George’s wife, human rights lawyer and activist.” Ugh.
