Time’s 2017 Person of the Year Story Is for Women and Entirely by Women

The cover features Ashley Judd; Taylor Swift; Isabel Pascual, a California strawberry picker who spoke out about being stalked, harassed, and threatened; activist and Visa lobbyist Adama Iwu, who penned an open letter calling out sexual harassment in politics; and Uber whistleblower Susan Fowler. The issue also includes interviews with Rose McGowan, #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, and some male victims of harassment such as Terry Crews, among others.

But what’s particularly cool about this package is that it was created and executed completely by women from conception to publication.

It’s a powerful, behind-the-scenes detail that adds another stirring facet to a story and movement centered on women taking back their narratives. To think that Donald Trump was on the short list for Person of the Year! He does appear a lot in the story, though—as one of the men accused of harassment.
