Diamond Reynolds' Daughter Pleads In Disturbing New Philando Castile Video: 'I Don’t Want You to Get Shooted'
In a new video released Tuesday, Philando Castile’s girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, can be heard begging police to check whether he is still alive and crying out in prayer after Officer Jeronimo Yanez shot Castile seven times during a traffic stop last year. Her four-year-old daughter can also be heard trying to calm her down over fears she will also be shot.
The video, which runs nearly 90 minutes long, was released by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension in response to records requests and was first published on Twitter by Tony Webster, an independent journalist. It was made public along with the chilling dashcam video that showed Yanez firing into the car just seconds after first making contact with Castile, who told officers he had a gun he was licensed to carry.
“His license and registration was in his wallet!” Reynolds shouts in the video, which takes place after Castile was shot and Reynolds and her daughter were removed from the car. Reynolds is handcuffed in the back of a squad car with her daughter when the video begins. “You told him to get it, sir! He tried to tell you he was licensed to carry!”
