Leave it to Canadian television to nail why Trump really won

After a campaign as unpredictable and improbable as this one, it somehow makes sense that the most trenchant election night commentary would come not from American TV but from our neighbors to the north.

There, during the Canadian Broadcast Corporation’s election coverage, Danielle Moodie-Mills offered what is perhaps the most eloquent, chilling post mortem on Donald Trump’s win.

“I do not believe that this is people saying, ‘I couldn’t possibly have a woman in this role,’” Moodie-Mills explained. “This is so much bigger than that.”

“This is literally white supremacy’s last stand in America,” she continued. “This is it. This is what it looks like.”
