Massachusetts police warn of people challenging each other to rap battles

The Charlton, Massachusetts, police department is warning local residents about a roving band of young men prowling the streets and challenging unsuspecting bystanders to impromptu rap battles.

On Saturday, a black SUV pulled up next to three teenage boys when one of the passengers hopped out of the car and began freestyling in their faces—daring them to spit some bars in return. The teenagers, apparently terrified by the sudden challenge, declined and the SUV drove away.

“Although this was suspicious behavior and frightening to the boys, nothing made this appear to be an attempted abduction,” the Charlton PD said in a message posted to its Facebook page. “With that being said, the Charlton Police are still conducting a follow-up investigation into this matter and would like for anyone with credible information surrounding this event.”
