Someone's Putting Signs Warning About Cops All Over Minneapolis After Police Killing Scandal

For the second time in just over a year, the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN, are once again coping with a police shooting that left an innocent civilian dead.

The July 15 death of Justine Damond—an Australian woman who was killed by MPD officer Mohamed Noor after calling 911 to report a possible assault outside her home—has become a national scandal and caused the Minneapolis police chief to resign. Now, it’s also prompted someone to post signs with stark warnings about the police across the cities.

It’s unclear who is responsible for creating and hanging the official-looking signs. So far, no one has come forward to take credit.

One picture of the signs has already rocketed to the front page of reddit.com, where it has garnered nearly 700,000 views in less than 24 hours.

When asked for comment by the Star Tribune on Sunday afternoon, St. Paul Police spokesman Steve Linders said he hadn’t heard of the signs, while Minneapolis Police spokesman Corey Schmidt declined to comment.

According to one Twitter user, police have nevertheless tried to remove at least one sign, posted along a busy traffic route.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is currently investigating the shooting.
