White House Assistant on McCain, Reportedly: 'It Doesn't Matter, He's Dying Anyway'

John McCain and Donald Trump have hated each other’s guts for a long time now, and it seems like McCain is fully prepared to take that feud to the grave.

The Hill reports that this morning in a closed-door meeting, White House special assistant Kelly Sadler did a take on just that. “It doesn’t matter, he’s dying anyway,” she reportedly told a room full of White House communications staffers. Afterwards, the Hill reports, there was “discomfort” in the room, which, to reiterate, was full of people who work for Donald Trump, a man who said of McCain all the way back in the summer of 2015: “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

The Hill says that McCain’s office declined comment, and that Sadler didn’t respond to a request for comment. “We respect Senator McCain’s service to our nation and he and his family are in our prayers during this difficult time,” the White House said in a statement to The Hill.

Last weekend came the report that McCain wasn’t inviting Trump to his funeral, which caused fellow old ass Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch to jump to Trump’s defense for some stupid reason. (Hatch later apologized.)

Then, on Wednesday, multiple outlets reported that an excerpt in McCain’upcoming book admitted that he passed along the Steele dossier to James Comey. “I said I didn’t know what to make of it, and I trusted the FBI would examine it carefully and investigate its claims,” McCain wrote. “I did what duty demanded I do.”

The same day, McCain announced he wasn’t going to vote for Trump’s pick to lead the CIA, Gina Haspel, who oversaw and covered up torture during the Bush administration.

“I believe Gina Haspel is a patriot who loves our country and has devoted her professional life to its service and defense,” McCain said in a press release on Wednesday. “However, Ms. Haspel’s role in overseeing the use of torture by Americans is disturbing. Her refusal to acknowledge torture’s immorality is disqualifying. I believe the Senate should exercise its duty of advice and consent and reject this nomination.”

Earlier on Thursday, former Fox News analyst and retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney called McCain ‘Songbird John’ while defending the use of torture in an appearance on the Fox Business Network.

“The fact is, is John McCain—it worked on John. That’s why they call him ‘Songbird John,’” McInerney said. “The fact is those methods can work, and they are effective, as former Vice President Cheney said. And if we have to use them to save a million American lives, we will do whatever we have to.”
