Legislators in Mexico City are expected to pass a series of bills to legalize and regulate marijuana at the end of October.

Here’s a look at the impact, by the numbers:

30 grams: the amount of pot you’ll be able to carry without committing a crime. That’s a little over an ounce for all you americanos.

60,000 people: the number of deaths tied to Mexico’s drug war from 2006 to 2012, the duration of the Felipe Calderón presidency.

2009: the year that Mexico City lawmakers decriminalized possession of up to five grams of marijuana.

$30 million per year: the estimated value of the weed market in Mexico City.

100 members: the proposed size of clubs where you would pay a subscription for up to 50 grams of pot a month. This would be a legal, regulated marketplace for weed.

67: the number of people featured in a newspaper ad supporting the legalization program, including actors Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna.

8.9 million: the 2010 population of Mexico City, the largest city in North America

But don’t expect this number to go down anytime soon:

14.2 billion: the number of joints you could roll with marijuana seized by U.S. authorities on the Southwest border between January 2005 and October 2011.
