On Friday, Donald Trump became the first sitting president to address anti-abortion protesters in town for the annual March For Life event.
During a Rose Garden ceremony, the president attempted to make a point about late-term abortions. But Trumpâwho once declared himself âvery pro-choiceââbungled his prepared remarks and ended up condemning a normal, benign pregnancy instead.
âRight now in a number of states the law allows a baby to be born from his or her motherâs womb in the ninth month,â Trump said.
This is in fact very accurate. Presumably, the president meant to say that in some states babies are torn from their motherâs wombâa very loaded way to describe a late-term abortion, but one more in line with the message he was sending.
âIt is wrong,â Trump continued. âIt has to change.â
As we speak, a cavalcade of Republican congressmen are probably arranging Fox News interviews to explain why the presidentâs new anti-birth stance is actually making America great again.
