Target customers shocked after audio of graphic porn plays over intercom
“Ohhhh, yeah,” the omniscient voice groans over the loudspeakers as a woman in this Youtube video asks a presumably rhetorical question: “What is going on at Target right now? What was going on at Target right then, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports, is that pornographic audio played over the loudspeakers at a San Jose Target for “several minutes” late Wednesday morning.
“Porn blasting over the intercom throughout the store,” the Star-Tribune reports Gina Young, who captured the audio on the Youtube video, wrote in a Facebook post. “People offered to help me cover my twins’ ears. Others threw [their] stuff down and walked out. Employees were running around everywhere.”
CBS San Francisco reports one patron, Chris Minor, felt violated, and that his body said, “Wait a minute, this ain’t right.”
Minor told CBS San Francisco that the store apologized over the PA system, and then proceeded to start playing the recording once more.
The Star-Tribune received a statement from an official Target spokesman:
“We are actively reviewing the situation with the team to better understand what happened and to help ensure this doesn’t happen again,” Molly Snyder, spokeswoman for the Minneapolis-based retailer, said Thursday. “Because this is an active investigation, I’m unable to share additional details, but we want our guests to know that we take this very seriously.”
“I thought it might’ve been Halloween-related,” Minor told CBS San Francisco.
