Sanders to Clinton at Democratic debate: 'Thanks for copying a very good idea'

In the education portion of Wednesday night’s Democratic debate, Bernie Sanders accused Hillary Clinton of copying his answers.

After Clinton laid out a plan to help reduce student debt and make it easier for students to pay college tuition, Sanders said he agreed.

“Thanks for copying a very good idea,” he told her. “One of the things we should not be doing obviously is punishing people for doing what we want them to do and that is to get an education.”

Sanders wants free tuition at public colleges, while Clinton would provide more federal student aid and focus on making college debt-free.

Clinton didn’t directly respond to Sanders’ jab, but she suggested that he wasn’t being totally upfront. “My dad used to say if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is and we deserve answers about how his programs will actually work and how they would be paid for,” she said.
